Telecommunication equipment will be produced in an Innovative Technology Park, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Prime Minister's website. Alpha Networks company has joined the special economic zone where the IT Park is located in March 2012. "Production of splitters hasn't got much competition. This kind of equipment is is manufactured only in Taiwan and South Korea. We plan to become the first manufacturers of fiber power splitters for communication service network operators based on G-PON technology known as "fringing fiber to the home". We are planning to expand into the market of the former soviet space later," Director General of Alpha Networks Shin De Sob said. GPON is a point-to-multipoint access mechanism. Its main characteristic is the use of passive splitters in the fiber distribution network, enabling one single feeding fiber from the provider's central office to serve multiple homes and small businesses. GPON has a downstream capacity of 2.488 Gb/s and an upstream capacity of 1.244 Gbp/s that is shared among users. Encryption is used to keep each user's data secured and private from other users. The company estimated its investments into into construction of the plant at up to $10 million. It has already leased some facilities at the territory of the IT Part from among those that will be completed at the first phase of the park's construction. The company plans to further expand its infrastructure after more facilities are constructed in the IT Park. "We will be able to set up production in 3-4 months according to our calculations. The Park got us interested, first of all by its tax deductions: corporate income tax and corporate property tax are at 0 rate. There are also exemptions from import and export customs duties. There are no trade barriers and limitation on the share of foreign ownership," Shin De Sob stressed.
