Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan has improved its position in the Speedtest Global Index for the second half of 2025, rising to 45th place worldwide in mobile internet speed.
The global index analyzed average mobile and broadband speeds across nearly 150 cities in 104 countries, focusing on download and upload performance.
According to the report, Kazakhstan moved up two spots in the mobile internet ranking, posting an average download speed of 94.54 Mbps. Japan ranked much lower — at 64th place with 53.54 Mbps.
In the city-by-city ranking, Astana and Almaty placed 62nd and 63rd, recording download speeds of 132.13 Mbps and 130.72 Mbps respectively. By comparison, Tokyo landed all the way down at 94th place.
Broadband internet remains a weak point: Kazakhstan ranked 89th globally, with an average fixed-line download speed of 82.47 Mbps.
The world’s top performers in mobile speed remain unchanged:
- United Arab Emirates – 652.87 Mbps
- Qatar – 515.23 Mbps
- Kuwait – 384.40 Mbps
- Bolivia placed last with just 13.96 Mbps.
Earlier, Kazakhstan ranked 47th in the first half of 2025 — a steady rise from 57th place in 2024.
