Hijabs will not be banned in Kazakhstan, online-conference. Head of the Government reminded that Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev had already made statements about hijabs. “I think that our President is right. Kazakhs initially had different types of headwear. The country should not ban wearing hijabs. We will not take any measures to forbid their wearing. It is wrong to forcedly ban them,” Massimov said at the conference. “I would like to remind that Kazakhstan is a secular country. Religion is separated from secular authority. We are a multi-national country and all religions are equal at the territory of Kazakhstan,” Prime-Minister added. Massimov also noted that first time when he faced the religious issues was during his studies in Peoples' Friendship University in Moscow at the Arabic Department. According to PM, “all religions and Islam, in particular, have a right to exist. But extreme forms of them have to be treated rigidly and the government has to have its policies in place.”
