“This year, the holiday is exceptional because Orthodox and Catholic churches celebrate it on the same day. It is a universal holiday for all Kazakhstanis as in our country we have ensured equality for all religions. Our nation celebrates Easter, Christmas, Nauryz and Kurban Ait (Eid al-Adha) together and it has become a tradition in our country. Religious diversity is a uniting factor for the Kazakhstani nation that gives confidence and peace, ensures accord and harmony. This is the foundation we are building upon, enhancing well-being of our people, raising our children and looking into the future with confidence,” the Head of the State said during his visit.
Nazarbayev emphasized the importance of tolerance and respect for each other for a multinational country like Kazakhstan. “Easter is a celebration of hope. I think that what we are all hoping for is stability in our country where we can work and give good upbringing for our children,” Nazarbayev said.
The President wished happiness, good health and prosperity to every family in Kazakhstan.
Metropolitan Bishop of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander expressed his gratitude to the President for his visit and warm wishes.
“You have wisely noted that this celebration is for all the Kazakhstanis. It is assonant with your politics of unity, peace and harmony. Kazakhstanis value the work you have done for the benefit of the citizens,” the Metropolitan Bishop said.
The Metropolitan Bishop traditionally presented an Easter egg to the President.
