Qatar mulls launching Doha-Kazakhstan flights

Qatar Minister of Economy and Finance Yousef Hussain Kamal met with Kazakhstan Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev at the 6th Astana Economic Forum in Astana and suggested opening a direct flight between Qatar and Kazakhstan, in particular between Doha and Astana or Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kaznex Invest agency of Kazakhstan Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. “I am talking about direct flights of the state airline Qatar Airways,” Kamal said. According to him, Qatar airline is on the world’s list of 5-star air carriers. It performed flights on over 80 international directions. According to Yousef Hussain Kamal, with Qatar's indigenous population of 300 thousand people, the airline’s total passengers flow is around 20 million people per year. The Minister also suggested that Kazakhstan creates a joint investment fund with $500 million of investments from every party. Kazakhstan Minister expressed readiness to support investment cooperation and offered that the airline interacts with Kazakhstan Development Bank. Issekeshev pointed out that Kazakhstan’s tourist sector was also open for investments.
