New Akim of Karaganda appointed
Meiram Smagulov has been appointed Akim (Mayor) of Karaganda, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. The new 50-y.o. Akim was introduced to the city’s Maslikhat (local authorities) by the oblast's Akim (Governor) Abelgazi Kussainov. Earlier Smagulov worked as deputy chairman of the residential housing construction department of Kazakhstan State Construction Agency. Former Akim of Karaganda Baurzhan Abdishev was appointed Kazakhstan’s Vice-Minister of Environmental Protection on September 22.
