Nursultan Nazarbayev took part in the opening of Formula-1 in Abu-Dhabi, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s press-service. “Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev took part in the opening of the final of a Formula-1 stage, Abu-Dhabi Grand Prix, under invitation of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces,” the press-service writes. According to the press-service, the President is currently on a short vacation. Daniel Juncadella, racer of Astana TAK Group, represents Kazakhstan in the world’s most prestigious Formula-1 race. Finnish pilot of Lotus team Kimi Raikkonen won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Raikkonen was 0.8 seconds ahead of the Spanish racer of Ferrari Alonso. German Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing) won the third prize. Vettel set the fastest lap of the race on Lap 54 with a time of 1:43.964. Formula-1 is the highest class of single-seater auto racing world championship. It includes several stages with Grand Prix status. The winner is defined at the end of the year. Formula-1 is a competition of pilots and teams. Pilots compete for the world champion title, while teams race for the Constructors Cup. Formula One cars are among the fastest circuit-racing cars in the world, owing to very high cornering speeds achieved through the generation of large amounts of aerodynamic downforce. Formula One cars race at speeds of up to 350 km/h (220 mph) with engines limited in performance to a maximum of 18,000 revolutions per minute (RPM). The cars are capable of lateral acceleration in excess of 5 g in corners. The performance of the cars is very dependent on electronics – although traction control and other driving aids have been banned since 2008 – and on aerodynamics, suspension and tyres.
