President Nazarbayev called stability and equality of all the citizens the immutable principles of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews reports citing the press service of the president.

At a meeting with activists of Astana on October 22, Nazarbayev stressed that social stability and equality of all the citizens of Kazakhstan were inviolable principles of our country, where no one should feel discriminated.

"A philosopher was once asked who is a happy man; he replied: 'Happy is he who lives among the happy.' If everybody around is happy, then all of us will be happy. But if a person or a group of people is unhappy, this unhappiness will spread to everyone else. I want everyone to remember: preservation of our stability and respect for each other are the basic principles of our development," he said.

Nazarbayev also spoke about the multi-ethnic population of Kazakhstan.

"Some activists are up to renaming everything, writing streets names and institutions in one language. This should stop. I would like to say again that one should not exhibit patriotic zeal inappropriately. All the rules related to the rights of ethnic groups and languages are clearly spelled out in the Constitution. This is our advantage, our international brand of a stable multi-ethnic country," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.

At the meeting Nazarbayev also stressed that Kazakhstan’s independence was a fundamental truth and its preservation was a sacred duty of all the citizens.
