Former Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Minister Sauat Mynbayev has been appointed new head of KazMunaiGas, Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the public relations department of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund. “Chairman of KazMunaiGas Lyazzat Kiinov was dismissed by Samruk-Kazyna in compliance with instructions of Kazakhstan President. Sauat Mynbayev was appointed chairman of KazMunaiGas,” the message states. Head of Samruk-Kazyna Umirzak Shukeyev thanked Kiinov for his work and introduced the new top manager to KazMunaiGas personnel. “Lyazzat Kiinov, you stepped in during a difficult time for the company. You were carrying a big load of work related to stabilization of the social situation in KazMunaiGas group of companies,” Shukeyev said. “There is no need to introduce Sauat Mynbayev. He is a professional. His activities have been linked to Samruk-Kazyna and oil and gas sector since 2006. Besides governing the Oil and Gas Ministry, he used to be a member of the Fund’s board and has been chairing the board of KazMunaiGas during the last 9 months. He dealt with strategic and current issues in the company. Sauat Mynbayev, I wish you success in your new position. I am confident that your appointment will serve to boost the company’s development,” he said. Earlier Sauat Mynbayev was relieved of his duties as Minister of Oil and Gas. Uzakbai Karabalin was appointed the new Minister of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan.
