President Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed a decree appointing the Akims of Astana, Almaty and Oblasts.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev has signed a decree appointing the Akims (Mayors and Governors) of Astana, Almaty and Oblasts, Tengrinews reports citing Akorda.

The inauguration of the President of Kazakhstan took place in Astana on April 29. The President signed a Decree "On the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan” in regards to the abdication of the Government of Kazakhstan. In accordance with the Constitution, the Akims (Mayors) of Almaty and Astana, Akims (Governors) of Oblasts and heads of governmental institutions resigned from their posts after the new president was elected.

In accordance with the new decree, all mayors and governors of Almaty, Astana cities and regions retained their posts. The decree signed by the president was published on the official website of Akorda.

President Nazarbayev reappointed the following Akims:

Adilbek Zhaksybekov – Akim of Astana
Akhmetzhan Yessimov – Akim of Almaty
Sergey Kulagin – Akim of Akmola Oblast
Arkhimed Mukhambetov – Akim of Aktyubinsk Oblast
Amandyk Batalov – Akim of Almaty Oblast
Baktykozha Izmukhambetov – Akim of Atyrau Oblast
Nurlan Nogayev - Akim of West Kazakhstan Oblast
Karim Kokrekbayev – Akim of Zhambyl Oblast
Nurmukhambet Abdibekov – Akim of Karaganda Oblast
Nuraly Saduakassov – Akim of Kostanay Oblast
Krymbek Kusherbayev – Akim Kyzylorda Oblast
Alik Aidarbayev – Akim of Mangistau Oblast
Askar Myrzakhmetov – Akim of South Kazakhstan Oblast
Kanat Bozymbayeva – Akim of Pavlodar Oblast
Erik Sultanov – Akim of North Kazakhstan Oblast
Danial Akhmetov – Akim of East Kazakhstan Oblast

Before the appointments were made Karim Massimov was reappointed as the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and all the members of the government were reappointed to their positions and told to carry on with their work.
