Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov evaluated the quality of the newly constructed housing as “the lowest of the low”, Tengrinews.kz reports. Affordable Housing-2020 program was discussed at the Government meeting on June 5. “We are starting a very large-scale construction campaign. There will be a lot of housing constructed. At the same time we have gained both positive and negative experience in construction. Quality of the housing has to be closely considered. Recent examples in several oblasts show that the quality is the lowest of the low,” Karim Massimov told the head of the Agency on Construction and Housing and Public Utilities. “There have been indeed many complains about the quality of the construction. We are constantly working on toughening the regulations. This year we have introduced a new category-based licensing system. This will help us remove careless and non-qualified construction companies from the market starting from this year,” head of the Agency on Construction and Housing and Public Utilities Serik Nokin said. Prime-Minister also talked about the housing cost during discussion of the Affordable Housing-2020 program. By Assel Satayeva
