Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates have signed a series of strategic bilateral agreements following high-level talks between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, citing Akorda.
The signing ceremony marked a new phase in Kazakh–Emirati cooperation, with over 10 key documents exchanged. These include:
- A memorandum of cooperation in road transport between Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport and the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure
- A memorandum of cooperation between the justice ministries of both countries
- An agreement between Samruk-Kazyna and Masdar on developing round-the-clock power supply projects up to 500 MW and energy storage systems up to 2000 MW in Kazakhstan
- A strategic partnership agreement on digital transformation in the oil and gas sector between Samruk-Kazyna and AIQ
- A memorandum of understanding between Samruk-Kazyna and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank
- A deal to establish a supercomputing cluster in Kazakhstan between the Ministry of Digital Development and UAE tech firm Presight
- A protocol between KazMunayGas and Abu Dhabi Ports Group to expand cooperation in developing Kazakhstan’s commercial shipping fleet
- Another strategic cooperation agreement on digitizing Kazakhstan’s gas industry, signed between QazaqGaz and AIQ
- A memorandum between the Turkistan regional government and the Abu Dhabi Development Fund for financing and constructing a maternity hospital named after Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Turkistan
- An investment agreement to develop Astana’s Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport and surrounding infrastructure, signed between Kazakhstan’s Transport Ministry and Terminals Astana Airport Limited
Additionally, the Akorda noted that Kazakhstan and the UAE have ratified an agreement on implementing a wind power plant project, reflecting growing energy cooperation.
The agreements underscore deepening economic and technological ties between the two nations, building on earlier partnerships and setting the stage for long-term investment and development.
These agreements come as part of the Crown Prince’s official visit to Kazakhstan on May 11–12, during which he held talks with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev focused on deepening strategic ties.
