Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held high-level talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, during his official visit to Kazakhstan, citing the Akorda press service.
Welcoming the UAE dignitary, Tokayev highlighted the visit as a significant step toward strengthening the Kazakhstan-UAE strategic partnership. He emphasized that the United Arab Emirates is one of Kazakhstan’s key allies, sharing common goals and aspirations.
“In 2023, our governments signed a joint declaration on the implementation of strategic investment projects. This has opened new opportunities for collaboration,” Tokayev noted.
The UAE is among the top 10 largest foreign investors in Kazakhstan’s economy. In 2024, the flow of direct investments from the Emirates more than doubled, reaching a record high.
During the visit, more than 20 commercial agreements were signed, totaling approximately $5 billion. Tokayev called the deals a 'powerful boost to bilateral cooperation' that will further deepen mutually beneficial ties.
Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and said he always returns to Kazakhstan with special appreciation for the country’s natural beauty and hospitality.
He underlined that the relationship between the two nations is built on trust, mutual support, and a shared commitment to progress.
"Our ties go far beyond trade and investment - they now span energy, transport, digital infrastructure, and education," he said.
The Crown Prince also noted that the newly signed agreements reflect a shared vision for future collaboration.
Earlier it was announced that Sheikh Khaled would visit Kazakhstan on May 11-12. His talks with President Tokayev focused on expanding strategic cooperation and formalizing new bilateral agreements.
This visit follows President Tokayev’s own trip to the UAE in January, where he participated in a global summit addressing sustainable development challenges and met with leaders of major Arab companies.
