Indonesia is ready to support Kazakhstan’s bid to host the World Petroleum Congress in 2017 in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of Kazakhstan Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning.
Kazakhstan delegation led by Minister of Economy Yerbolat Dossayev discussed trade-and-economic cooperation with Indonesia. They spoke about cooperation in oil and gas at the first inter-government meeting. Kazakhstan delegation informed their Indonesian colleagues that Kazakhstan National Commission of the World Petroleum Council filed an application bidding to host the World Petroleum Congress in Astana in 2017.
“The Indonesian delegation pointed out that hosting of such an event is a great privilege and expressed readiness to ask the Indonesian National Commission to support Astana during the voting of the World Petroleum Council in Calgary, Canada in October,” the press-service cited Director of the Department for Development of Oil Industry of Kazakhstan Oil and Gas Ministry Kuandyk Kulmurzin as saying.
Earlier President of the World Petroleum Council Renato Bertani said that Kazakhstan had good chances to win the bid and host the World Petroleum Congress in Astana in 2017. According to him, "Astana is a really serious candidate for hosting of the congress of the petroleum council after Moscow in 2017.”
