Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held extended talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, following earlier discussions in a narrower format, Akorda’s press service reports.

Tokayev emphasized the positive outcomes of the earlier closed-format discussions, which addressed a wide range of bilateral issues.

"Regarding our cooperation, we have reached a common understanding and issued the necessary directives to our governments. There is significant work ahead of us. I can confidently state that our partnership continues to grow, gaining irreversible momentum. Our mission is to ensure this progress does not slow, that trade between our nations thrives, investment ties deepen, and cultural and educational exchanges flourish,” Tokayev said.

The Kazakh President highlighted the steady growth in trade and economic relations between the two countries. He noted the potential to increase bilateral trade turnover to $30 billion in the near future.

“To date, we have jointly implemented 93 projects worth a total of $18.3 billion, creating over 22,000 new jobs in Kazakhstan. There are 49 more projects in development, with an estimated investment of $29.5 billion, expected to create over 20,000 additional jobs,” Tokayev stated.

Russian President Vladimir Putin echoed Tokayev’s sentiments, expressing optimism about the expanding cooperation between Moscow and Astana across all sectors.

The discussions are part of Putin’s state visit to Kazakhstan, during which the two leaders are also participating in the 20th Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia via videoconference.

On November 28, Tokayev will chair the next session of the CSTO Security Council in Astana. The meeting will address pressing regional and international security concerns, with several key documents expected to be signed.
