Tengrinews.kz – During her official visit to Kazakhstan, Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was presented with a traditional Kazakh chapan by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
A photo of Meloni wearing the Kazakh garment was shared on the Telegram channel of the Presidential press service.
“The reception of Giorgia Meloni was held in the finest traditions of Kazakh hospitality,” the message read.
Earlier, President Tokayev and Prime Minister Meloni held expanded-format talks with delegations from both countries. Meloni expressed that the level of cooperation fully reflects the spirit of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Italy.
Previously, the two leaders discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation at Akorda.
Meloni arrived in Kazakhstan on May 29 at the invitation of President Tokayev, who personally welcomed her at Astana airport with a bouquet of pink peonies.
Giorgia Meloni is the first woman to serve as Italy’s prime minister since October 22, 2022. She previously served as Minister for Youth in Silvio Berlusconi’s fourth government and leads the Brothers of Italy party as well as the European Conservatives and Reformists Group.
