Kazakhstan residents will have 4 days off fof the Independence Day this year, Tengrinews.kz reports. The Government is not planning any special decree for this occasion. According to the law On holidays in Kazakhstan, the national holiday Independence Day is celebrated on December 16 and 17. This means that these two days are considered days off. But December 17 is a Saturday and Saturday is automatically a day off regardless of any holidays. So second Independence Day day-off is moved to the next work day to make it a holiday. I.e. December 17 is moved to Monday, December 19. This gives Kazakhstan 4 days off in a row: December 16-19.
