All proceeds from the Almaty Marathon will be donated to the Children’s Oncological Department of the Pediatrics and Children Surgery Research Center for new equipment, Tengrinews reports citing the organizers of the marathon.
“The goal of the Almaty Marathon in 2014 is to raise money to help equip the Children’s Oncological Department of the Pediatrics and Children Surgery Research Center. The Almaty Marathon is helping children with oncological diseases,” the organizers said.
In 2012, all the proceeds from the marathon were donated to the program of Help and Rehab of Children with ICP (infantile cerebral paralysis) and to help 2 y.o. Yesbol Miras who had been diagnosed with ICP. Since then the boy successfully underwent a course of treatment at Crotex clinic in Moscow.
In 2013, all the money was donated to Ardi rehab center for construction of a mini-aquatic center for children with ICP. Swimming is an important part of treatment of children with ICP and the center used the money to build a swimming pool, sauna and equipped the changing rooms. The project helps to strengthen children’s health and psychological state.
“Once the Almaty Marathon finishes, the organizers announce the amount of funds raised and donated. Anybody who donates money can apply for a full report on the use of the funds. The idea of the Almaty Marathon is to help projects that are socially important, highly efficient and transparent,” the organizers of the marathon said.
The registration for the Almaty marathon started on March 20 and is still available on the second floor of Mega mall near the food court. Anyone can sign up for the marathon, pay a participation fee and get a starting number at the registration center.
Everyone is welcome to go the distance and share some goodness on April 20.
