Tengrinews.kz – In 2026, the list of visa-free destinations for Kazakhstanis has expanded once again. Over the past two years, Kazakhstan has secured new agreements and updated entry conditions for several popular destinations. Key changes include the launch of a visa-free regime with Morocco, new travel regulations for Armenia, and updated stay durations for a number of other countries. Tengrinews.kz provides a breakdown of where citizens of Kazakhstan can travel visa-free in 2026 and which restrictions are important to consider before departure.
What changed in 2026
One of the most significant updates is the official launch of the visa-free regime with Morocco. The bilateral agreement came into force on March 19, 2025, and remains in effect for 2026.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, citizens of both nations can stay in the other country without a visa for up to 30 calendar days within any six-month period. Kazakhstani travelers can now visit Marrakech, Casablanca, Fez, and other Moroccan cities visa-free.
Another major change involves Oman. While the visa-free stay was previously limited to 14 days, the allowed period of stay has increased to 30 days.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman has announced the extension of the visa-free regime for citizens of Kazakhstan holding national passports. Kazakhstanis can now remain in Oman for up to 30 days," the Ministry stated.
The Ministry specifically emphasized that the visa-free regime does not apply to employment, education, or permanent residency.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan and Armenia have agreed on new rules for citizen stays. The agreement provides for visa-free travel for up to 90 days. Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov explained that after a 30-day stay, citizens are required to register with the local internal affairs authorities.
Kazakhstan is also currently discussing the introduction of a visa-free regime with Turkmenistan.

Where registration is required
Even with visa-free entry, some countries require registration with migration authorities for longer stays. In Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Armenia, registration is required after 30 days of stay.
Visa on arrival
For certain destinations, there is no need to apply for a visa in advance; a permit can be obtained upon arrival in the country.
This policy applies to:
- Zambia;
- Indonesia;
- Mauritius.
Key considerations before traveling
Despite visa-free regimes, countries may impose additional requirements on tourists. Most often, these include a return ticket, proof of accommodation, or proof of sufficient funds.
Additionally, travelers are advised to check passport validity and ensure there are enough blank pages well in advance. This is an often-overlooked detail for many tourists before a trip.
It is also crucial to adhere to the allowed duration of stay. Violating migration rules can lead to fines or re-entry bans.
