Passenger fails to buy ticket and wrecks airport

Tengrinews.kz – A British tourist staged a full-on “battle with the kiosks” at Hong Kong Airport after a failed attempt to buy a ticket. Footage of the incident has spread on social media.

What happened

The incident took place in the morning at Hong Kong International Airport. According to AsiaOne, police detained a British national for damaging self-service kiosks.

According to eyewitnesses and judging by the video, the man knocked over at least five terminals, then grabbed a queue barrier cord and began smashing equipment with it.

According to The Sun, a total of about ten kiosks were damaged, and before that he had already managed to damage railings and a counter in the departures area.

Media report that the unexpected trigger for the outburst of aggression was a failed attempt to buy a ticket via a self-service machine. Unable to complete the operation, the man became enraged and started wrecking the equipment.

After his arrest, police found four Viagra tablets in his backpack. In Hong Kong, possession of this drug without a prescription is prohibited.

The offender may face up to two years in prison and a hefty fine.
