Tengrinews.kz - Earth is expected to experience another geomagnetic storm this week, according to the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Space Research Institute.

The storm will begin overnight from October 15 to 16 and will subside by the morning. It is classified as a weak G1-level storm, which may cause minor fluctuations in power grids, slightly affect satellite operations, and trigger auroras.

Earlier this month, on the night of October 11, a much stronger geomagnetic storm struck Earth, escalating from a moderate G2-level to a severe G4-level storm. This event caused northern lights to be visible in several regions of Kazakhstan.

Kazakh photographer Dmitry Dotsenko captured stunning images of the northern lights in Almaty. The skies over cities like Uralsk, Semey, Karaganda, and Ridder also turned pink and purple, with bright stars visible in some areas.

Residents of Russia, Moldova, Lithuania, the UK, Belarus, and parts of Ukraine also witnessed the aurora borealis during the storm.
