Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan's citizens and their families were evacuated from Lebanon, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is reported that due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East, on the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as with the assistance of the relevant state bodies of Kazakhstan, citizens of Kazakhstan and their family members were evacuated from Lebanon.
"The operation was carried out through the cities of Istanbul and Dubai, resulting in the safe return of 41 people from Beirut to Astana and Almaty between October 17 and 31, 2024. The evacuation was conducted to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who found themselves in a conflict zone," the statement said.
Since October 1, Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon and continues aerial bombardment of the neighboring country, where more than 2,800 people have already been killed, including leaders of the Shia Islam movement, and more than a million people have become refugees.
The main goal of the military campaign in Israel is said to be creating conditions for the return of 60,000 northern residents who were evacuated due to shelling launched by Hezbollah in 2023 in support of the Palestinian Hamas movement.
Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan urged Kazakh citizens in the Middle East to stay in contact with diplomats.
