Kazakhstan emergency medicine center to perform 50 marrow transplantations

Kazakhstan national emergency medicine center is to perform 50 marrow transplantations in 2012 and treat over 200 oncologic patients, Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov's website writes. "In 2012 we made 20 marrow transplantations, but we are planning for 50 this year. We are expanding the capacities of our oncology facilities and expect to treat over 200 patients with pathologies," medical director of the center Irina Pivovarova said. According to her, the center also actively develops a program for registering marrow donors, that will "allow the country to get into the international base and help its citizens to get the transplantations inside the country". Establishment of the national sanitary aviation coordination center is yet another medical initiative of the government. "Over 300 flights have been made to different regions of Kazakhstan as of today," Pivovarova stated.
