Flu epidemy expected in Kazakhstan in December

Kazakhstan expects to be hit by a surge of ARVI diseases in October and flu epidemy in December, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Ministry of Healthcare. "Vaccination against flu for the most vulnerable population groups (people over 60, grown-ups and children with lungs and heart diseases, immunodeficiency, weak and frequently sick people, as well as medical personnel) has been scheduled to take place at the expence of the state budget,” the Ministry's message states. Vaccines have already been bought in the amount of 784,131 doses (2.5 times more than last year) for the total cost of 577,245 tenge ($4,000). The vaccination is planned for the beginning of October. 17 sanitary-quarantine stations are operating around the clock at the borders of Kazakhstan to counter infectious diseases. 20 thermovision cameras and 64 pyrometers have beeen installed in international airports to help detect people with fever. Filters have been enhanced in schools and kindergartens.
