Two people died in an explosion of a fuel cistern, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Fire covers the area of 150 square meters. It is too early to talk about reasons right now; investigators will start working after the fire is extinguished. 2 people are reported killed. They are not identified yet,” Almaty Emergency Situations Department said. Fire was caused by a cistern explosion. The cistern contained fuel. “The cistern exploded at the territory of a company at the crossing of Raiymbek and Bokeikhanov streets. The premises are owned by Rakhat confectionary and are used as warehouses,” head of the Emergency Situations Department’s press-service Gulshat Daurenbekova said. According to witnesses, the fire started around 3:20 p.m. “When I heard the blast, I thought it was an earthquake. It was very strong. A firefighting machine arrived very soon but couldn’t reach the building for about 10 minutes, as there is no access road,” one of the witnesses said. By Zhuldyz Seisenbekova
