Two McDonald’s fast food restaurants are opening in Astana soon, Tengrinews reports citing the Department for Architecture and City Planning of Astana.
“A land lot for construction of a McDonald’s fast food restaurant has been auctioned,” the city-planning agency said.
One of the restaurants will be located on the left bank of the Ishim river, the other one on the right bank (the river flows through the city dividing it into two parts). The Akimat of Astana (municipal authorities) have issued a license to Food Solutions KZ LLP (McDonald’s Kazakhstan) for construction of the restaurants at 26 Kabanbay Batyr avenue and 49 Bogenbay Batyr street.
The opening dates of the McDonald’s restaurants have not been announced yet.
In November 2014, Kazakh businessman Kairat Bornabayev announced acquisition of McDonald’s franchise.
As of today, McDonald’s has over 35 thousand restaurants that serve around 70 million people in over 100 countries. Over 80% of income comes from franchising. There are no McDonald’s restaurants in Kazakhstan yet.
