13-cm hail damaged fields and killed cattle in East Kazakhstan

Hailstorm at the territory of East-Kazakhstan oblast damaged several village schools, fields and killed livestock on Monday, KazTAG reports citing Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergency Situations. The Ministry said that local rescue teams were alerted about the storm in several villages at 3.00 a.m. According to the information received by the Emergency Situations Department, the hail damaged windows in schools at the total area of 486 sq.m and roofs at the total area of 1,900 sq.m. The hail reaching 13 cm in diameter damaged 4,936 hectares of fields and killed four great cattle and 78 small cattle. No human casualties were reported. A regional commission is currently inspecting the damaged facilities and setting up restoration works.
