The blast near Astana National Security Commission's detention facility killed one Kazakh and one Kyrgyz citizen, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Kazakhstan Ministry of Internal Affairs. Astana Internal Affairs Department received the message about the blast near the building No.6 on Shyntas street at 03:37 a.m. on May 24. “At the incident site the investigation group located a red Audi-100 car, corpses of two unknown men of European appearance, driver’s license and hunting permit both in the name of Dmitriy Yuryevich Kelpler, born in 1962, citizen of Kyrgyzstan, residing in Ekibastuz town of Pavlodar oblast, Kazakhstan. The investigators also found the passport of Ivan Aleksandrovich Cheryomukhin, born in 1985, Kazakhstan citizen, convicted for theft and twice convicted for fraud, as well as for purchase and sale of illegally obtained property. Ivan Cheryomukhin also lived in Ekibastuz. Broken Sony-Ericsson mobile phone was also found at the accident site,” the message states. As per the Ministry of Internal Affairs, inspection of the incident site showed that the explosion occurred in the car which was parked at the waste land far from residential houses and industrial facilities of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ, Kazakhstan national railroad company). KTZ vehicles were not damaged in the blast. The blast wave broke windows of the nearby buildings. As per the preliminary version, death of the unidentified persons was caused by self-explosion of a shell-less exploding device without destructive filler (bolts, nails, screws). These circumstances show no signs of a terrorist act. Required investigation is being held, technical expert examination has been scheduled.
