Kazakhstan Government will switch to locally made cars in the nearest two years, Kazakhstan Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev told Tengrinews.kz. Answering the question on when local cars will be seen at the parking lot next to the government building, Issekeshev said: “I think they will in the nearest time. You see, we cannot just throw away the cars that we have already bought. I think the transition will happen in the nearest one or two years. Technically we are ready, it is a matter of procedures.” The Minister said that he would try to replace his foreign car with a locally made one this autumn. Head of KazakhMys Eduard Ogai said at the Forum on Support of Kazakhstan Producers of Goods, Works and Services called Produce It in Kazakhstan! that his corporation was going to switch to locally made cars. He told Tengrinews.kz that the company would buy around 800 Kazakhstan-made vehicles. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed Kazakhstan officials to buy Kazakhstan-made vehicles in the beginning of 2012. Recently he reminded them of this instruction.
