In July Astana will have a waste recycling facility launched in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the country’s Environment Minister Nurlan Kapparov as saying to the country’s Majilis (lower chamber) June 11.
“The waste recycling facility in Astana is to be launched in a month. We hope it will be smoothly operable”, he said adding that “it will be a second such facility built in Kazakhstan, but the only actually working one. A similar Almaty-based facility is not working for economic considerations”, according to the Minister.
The minister elaborated that only 5% of all waste produced in Kazakhstan is recycled, with the other waste being kept at dumps.
