The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced the decision to remove illegal taxi drivers from all Kazakhstan airports, Tengrinews reports.
“We are implementing standardization of airports and by the end of this year Astana and Almaty airports will go through the standardization procedures. Airports had signed agreements with taxi companies but the fight against illegal taxis has been unsuccessful. But since parking is no more free and illegal taxi drivers do not have a specially designated area for parking, I believe that with highly qualified management the issue will be resolved,” Talgat Lastayev of the Civil Aviation Committee said.
Lastayev added that quality of airport services was an important issue. He reminded about creation of the airport holding that includes 11 Kazakhstan airports. Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) was appointed the operator responsible for development of Kazakhstan’s transit potential. In this regard, KTZ has attracted foreign partners to help establishing new airport transportation services.
