Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with Almaty Akim (Mayor) Akhmetzhan Yessimov, Tengrinews reports citing the President’s press-service. The President stressed that development of tourism should become one of the key sectors in Almaty's economy. “A large work on development of tourism is being done in the city in pursuance of my instructions. A lot of emphasis is being placed on skiing and use of the potential of the mountains near Almaty. This will create new jobs besides all else,” Nazarbayev stressed. Kazakhstan President pointed out that the first cycling race that was recently held in Almaty by the International Cyclists Union was very important for the international standing of Almaty.
