Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan has proposed extending the ban on the import of chicken eggs into the country.
A draft order titled “On the introduction of a ban on the import of fresh chicken eggs into the Republic of Kazakhstan” has been published on the government’s Open NLA portal.
“The draft order provides for a one-month ban on the import of fresh chicken eggs into the Republic of Kazakhstan by all modes of transport from third countries and from member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, except for the transit of eggs through Kazakhstan and their transfer between EAEU member states,” the document states.
According to the ministry, the measure aims to support domestic producers and protect the internal market.
Earlier in February, Kazakhstan introduced a similar restriction on egg imports as part of a memorandum between government agencies to stabilize prices for socially significant food products.
