Woman drowns in Lake Alakol 50 meters from shore

Tengrinews.kz — A woman drowned in Lake Alakol in an area where swimming is prohibited, citing YK-news.kz.

On July 1, while patrolling the shoreline, servicemen saw two people drowning about 50 meters from the shore. The servicemen and other eyewitnesses rushed to help. It turned out that a woman born in 1991 and her daughter, born in 2012, were drowning.

“They were being carried away from the shore while drowning. The minor was rescued. Unfortunately, the woman died. The arriving ambulance workers pronounced her dead,” the Department of Emergency Situations of Abai region reported.

The Department of Emergency Situations of Abai region urged residents and visitors to the region to strictly observe water safety rules.
