Tengrinews.kz – Minister of Energy Almassadam Satkaliyev answered a question about the timeline for the construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant.
Speaking to journalists during a briefing at the Ministry of Energy, Satkaliyev provided an estimated timeframe of 2-3 years.
"In international practice, the design phase takes up to three years. After three years, the so-called 'concrete stage' begins, when actual construction starts. If we talk about general construction work, we may begin within two years. However, the main construction will only commence after completing the feasibility study, preparing project documentation, and obtaining all necessary approvals from government authorities," the minister explained.
As a reminder, Kazakhstan has previously officially approved the site for the nuclear power plant. The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
