Vietnam extradited a foreigner to Kazakhstan - he faces up to five years

Tengrinews.kz — A foreign national who had been evading law enforcement and was placed on an international wanted list has been extradited from Vietnam to Kazakhstan. The man was detained back in February, citing the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to investigators, between 2022 and 2023, the suspect and an accomplice organized an illegal gambling business in Almaty, generating over 12 million tenge in illicit proceeds.

While the accomplice was held criminally liable, his foreign partner fled and was subsequently declared a fugitive.

Upon his return to Kazakhstan, the man was placed in a pre-trial detention center.

"The offense he is charged with carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, along with the confiscation of property," the supervisory authority stated.
