Speaking at a briefing at the Central Communications Service, Kelbuganov said the fare adjustment is a one-time increase linked to inflation.

"There will be a 7 percent increase in passenger fares as a one-time adjustment to inflation from March 1. There will be no further fare hikes this year," he stated.

Previously, Nurzhan Kelbuganov also announced that two new electric trains would begin operating around Astana to improve rail connections with the capital.
