Tengrinews.kz - Authorities in Kazakhstan have stepped up safety measures around schools and areas where children gather, Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov said at a government meeting.
According to the minister, police patrol routes have been adjusted to focus on schools and playgrounds, with increased monitoring at pedestrian crossings and intersections. Inspections of school transportation compliance are also underway.
"During inspections, infrastructure deficiencies were identified – including missing traffic lights, road signs, and markings – in the regions of Ulytau, Zhetysu, and Abai, as well as in Atyrau, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, and Kyzylorda regions," Sadenov said.
Akimats (local government administrations) have been instructed to address all identified issues by September 1, 2025.
Earlier, the Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education announced that student stipends in Kazakhstan will be increased beginning with the new academic year.
