Tengrinews.kz – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, according to a statement from Akorda.
During the meeting, they discussed prospects for further strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Fund.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasized that the country places particular importance on environmental protection, including the preservation and expansion of forest resources and the rational use of natural resources.
Kazakhstan is planning to host a Regional Climate Summit next year. The main goal of the event is to seek collective solutions to major challenges, including climate change adaptation and ensuring food and water security.
Mafalda Duarte, in turn, expressed support for Kazakhstan’s efforts to address climate issues. She especially praised the National Adaptation Plan, implemented with the support of the Fund and UNDP, which includes a comprehensive disaster risk management system and an early warning system.

Both sides also highlighted the importance of fostering a respectful attitude toward nature and developing environmental awareness in society.
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the largest multilateral climate fund, established under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to support developing countries in adapting to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
