Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at the scientific-practical conference “Constitution and Statehood: Dialogue of Law and the Future”, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, citing Akorda.

“Today we celebrate a special date. Thirty years ago, the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was adopted through a nationwide referendum. This moment was historic for our country. I congratulate everyone on this anniversary!” Tokayev emphasized.

At the same time, he noted that “indeed, there is nothing above our fundamental law.”

“The Constitution is the unshakable foundation of our Independence and a reliable guide for strengthening statehood. Kazakhs are a people who have always lived by the laws of the Great Steppe, never deviating from the norms of honor and conscience. The brightest examples of steppe law are ‘Kasym Khan’s Bright Path’, ‘Yesim Khan’s Ancient Path’, and Tauke Khan’s ‘Seven Charters’. This tradition has never been interrupted. Our people have passed a long historical journey—from the laws of the Steppe to today’s Constitution. A special role in the early twentieth century was played by the Kazakh intelligentsia. During the Soviet era, the foundations of many legal norms were laid, and a whole generation of brilliant lawyers emerged,” Tokayev said.

It should be recalled that the Constitution of Kazakhstan, adopted on August 30, 1995, is the highest legal act of the state, defining the foundations of its political, legal, and economic systems.

The modern Constitution complies with international standards and UN legal acts aimed at protecting the rights and interests of citizens.
