Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at a panel session of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, agreed with U.S. President Donald Trump’s criticism of the United Nations.
“I just mentioned that this looks quite strange and perhaps even absurd, but it is the Security Council that is preventing the resolution of the most important international issues,” the Head of State said.
He added that people, diplomats, and politicians are forced to hold negotiations through other platforms.
“By the way, President Donald Trump addressed this problem quite vividly in September last year at the session of the General Assembly, and I fully agree with him. He criticized the broken teleprompter and escalator at the UN headquarters, saying that everything at the UN is broken. But the most serious problem is that the entire peacekeeping process has been disrupted both in the United Nations and in other institutions.”
The President emphasized that he is a strong supporter of multilateral diplomacy and still believes in the bright future of humanity united around the idea of justice as a central element of strengthening peace.
