Tengrinews.kz - On May 22 at 9:00 a.m., loud warning sirens will sound across Kazakhstan, citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
According to the ministry’s press service, the sirens are part of a nationwide emergency drill, “Ört-2025” (“Fire-2025”), taking place from May 22 to 23. The exercise is aimed at assessing the country’s preparedness for combating wildfires.
The main coordination center for the drill will be located in the Pavlodar region. Russian emergency services will also participate to practice joint response operations in border areas.
“To test the regional alert system using the 'Attention everyone!' signal, all available warning sirens will be activated nationwide at 09:00 on May 22, 2025. We urge citizens to stay calm and not to give in to panic or rumors,” the statement reads.
Earlier, on April 30, sirens were heard in Almaty during a scheduled citywide earthquake preparedness drill. At that time, residents also received smartphone alerts accompanied by loud warning tones.
