Tengrinews.kz - Social media users raised concerns about shaking floors at Almaty Airport over the weekend, with one user comparing the experience to an earthquake. However, no seismic activity was reported in the city or surrounding areas, prompting an investigation into the incident.

The airport’s press service explained the cause to Tengrinews.kz:

“When a large aircraft taxis to the telescopic boarding bridge, vibrations and small jolts occur. The terminal is constructed with metal structures that can transmit these vibrations,” they stated.

This means the 'shaking building' effect is caused by aircraft movement, not natural seismic activity.

Notably, a genuine earthquake was recorded near Almaty on the evening of November 25. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the quake's epicenter was located 257 kilometers northeast of the city. No reports of damage or casualties were received, and the situation remains stable.
