Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, according to Akorda.

The president was informed about the country’s socio-economic development, efforts to create new growth points, and the implementation of economic reforms. In January-February of this year, economic growth reached 5.4 percent.

The prime minister also reported on the progress of tasks set by the Head of State at the fourth meeting of the National Kurultai, including the implementation of major infrastructure and energy projects, digitalization, and human capital development.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received an update on flood prevention measures within the framework of the Republican Headquarters' operations. The situation is being monitored around the clock. More than 37,000 personnel and 13,000 units of equipment have been prepared.

"Following the meeting, the president instructed to continue efforts to support the real sector of the economy, attract investment, and improve social policy," the Akorda statement read.

Earlier, it was reported that in the Aktobe region, meltwater has washed away roads and flooded courtyards and streets. In some villages, movement is only possible by boat. Due to the flooding, children are currently unable to attend school. In Aktobe itself, meltwater has also flooded courtyards and streets.

According to Kazhydromet, the highest flood risks are in the following regions: East Kazakhstan, Abai, Karaganda, Ulytau, Akmola, North Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Aktobe, and West Kazakhstan.
