Monthly inflation in Kazakhstan

According to the National Statistics Bureau, the monthly consumer price index in March was 1.3% (in February it was 1.5%).

Over the month, the price level for food products increased by 1.6%, for paid services - by 1.3%, non-food products - by 0.8%.

Inflation over the year in Kazakhstan

Inflation in Kazakhstan has accelerated. Over the year, it was 10% (in February - 9.4%).

Prices for paid services over the year increased by 14.3%, non-food products by 9.1%, and food products by 7.6%.

Among the regions, the highest annual inflation was in Astana (13.3%), the lowest was in the Pavlodar region (6.9%).

How prices have changed over the year: what has increased in price the most

Over the year, utility tariffs have increased significantly:

  • Cold water - by 88.4%,
  • Water disposal - by 23.7%,
  • Heating - by 19%,
  • Hot water - by 14.6%,
  • Electricity - by 14.3%,
  • Gas - by 13.3%,
  • Garbage removal - by 11.1%,
  • Housing maintenance fees - by 11%.

The following services also became more expensive:

  • Complex recreation services - by 47.3%,
  • Communication services - by 13.9%,
  • Health care - by 13.4%,
  • Car maintenance services - by 12.9%,
  • Hairdressers and personal service establishments - by 12.6%,
  • Catering services - by 11.3%,
  • Recreation and sports events - by 9.2%.

Transport fares also became more expensive:

  • Railway transport - by 23.6%,
  • City bus - by 11.2%,
  • Air passenger transport - by 10%.

Prices for cars and equipment increased:

  • Audiovisual equipment - by 48%,
  • Jewelry and watches - by 26.6%,
  • New cars - by 21.6%,
  • Carpets and floor coverings - by 13.9%,
  • Clothing and footwear - by 10.9%,
  • Furniture and household items - by 10%.

Essential goods also increased in price:

  • Potatoes - by 66.4%,
  • Onions - by 32.2%,
  • Cabbage - by 27.3%,
  • Mineral and drinking water - by 17.1%,
  • Sunflower oil - by 16.8%,
  • Confectionery - by 15%,
  • Tomatoes - by 14.9%,
  • Bananas - by 14.6%,
  • Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products - by 13%.

However, there were also goods that became cheaper:

  • Buckwheat - by 17.7%,
  • Eggs - by 8.3%,
  • Carrots - by 7.4%,
  • Rice - by 6.3%.

A price reduction was also recorded for liquefied gas in cylinders, by 23%, and firewood by 14.8%.

The National Statistical Bureau previously published inflation data for Kazakhstan for February.
