Tengrinews.kz - President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called on law enforcement agencies to prepare for significant changes, speaking on June 23 at an expanded meeting of law enforcement bodies, citing Akorda.
"Systemic measures are being taken to combat corruption. At my instruction, funds confiscated from corrupt officials through court rulings are being allocated to school construction. Over the past three years, more than 150 billion tenge has been directed toward building 89 schools, 61 of which have already been commissioned," the President said.
He emphasized that in the current political and socio-economic environment, fighting corruption effectively requires new approaches.
"We are deliberately strengthening the hospitality sector, developing tourism, and placing particular importance on the safety of our international guests," he added.
Tokayev noted that every tourist arriving in Kazakhstan now receives a safety brochure along with a new SIM card at the airport, which includes a basic internet package and mobile connectivity.
"Our shared goal is to make Kazakhstan a country of comfortable and safe living. The ability to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens and to maintain peace and order is a key factor in the well-being and successful development of any nation. That is why Kazakhstan must enhance the capacity of its law enforcement system and solidify its role as a contributor to regional security," the President stated.
Tokayev concluded by stressing the need for readiness within law enforcement agencies to undergo deep transformation.
"The efforts of responsible bodies must be thoughtful, coordinated, and aimed at real, tangible change," he said.
