Tengrinews.kz — President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev believes that the successful application of artificial intelligence requires the introduction of a data-centric model, citing the Akorda press service.
The Head of State recalled that structured data is the economic foundation for the development of artificial intelligence, turning technological potential into real productivity.
“And here it is language that serves as the fundamental layer linking the entire system together. Full integration of the Kazakh language into modern digital systems is required in order to clearly structure data and achieve large-scale implementation of innovation. Without common data, its compatibility, and machine readability, even the most sophisticated algorithm will not deliver a real economic effect. A vast amount of highly valuable information still remains outside digital circulation, sitting in paper archives. We are losing time and opportunities,” the President said during the second meeting of the Council for the Development of Artificial Intelligence.
Tokayev also instructed the government to convert all archival and current data into high-quality datasets suitable for training artificial intelligence models as soon as possible.
“In turn, the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms should approve a national data quality standard, ensuring its accessibility for the economy, science, and business. In general, for a full transition to a data-centric governance model, the government needs to revise the entire regulatory framework and the architecture of state programs. The key performance indicator is the standardization and integration of data into a unified network of so-called data lakes. If this transition does not take place soon, our investments in innovative infrastructure will, by and large, go to waste,” the Head of State said.
During the event, the President also noted that artificial intelligence is becoming the backbone of the new global economy, while big data is becoming a critically important resource. In this regard, Kazakhstan views the development of artificial intelligence as a key strategic priority.
