Tengrinews.kz - The safety of the popular Korean Shine Muscat grapes has come under scrutiny in Kazakhstan with concerns about potentially harmful substances. Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov addressed the issue during a press briefing at the Mazhilis.
Saparov assured that all imported products undergo mandatory testing. Samples are taken and analyzed in certified laboratories upon entry into Kazakhstan.
"Let’s test it again. Submit a request, and we’ll conduct additional testing and share the results with you. Whenever products enter the country and receive certification, we ensure they are submitted to the lab for analysis. We are also working on upgrading our laboratories with new equipment - nine new devices are being purchased for veterinary testing - which will make quality checks easier," Saparov explained.
The minister admitted that he had not personally tried the Shine Muscat grapes but promised to order another round of tests.
"I’ll issue instructions to have the grapes retested. If the product passed through official channels, there should be proper documentation and certificates. If it entered illegally, that’s another issue. I'll direct the committee to take new samples, and we’ll share the results with you," Saparov added.
Social media platforms continue to drive food trends worldwide, and Kazakhstan is no exception. Following the recent buzz around "Dubai chocolate," Muscat grapes, often referred to as "Korean" grapes, have captured the attention of TikTok users and food enthusiasts.
