Tengrinews.kz - On the International Day Against Nuclear Tests, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reminded the world of the tragedy endured by the Kazakh people and called for strengthening peace for the sake of future generations, citing Akorda.
“Today is the International Day Against Nuclear Tests. This memorable date was established by the UN General Assembly at the initiative of Kazakhstan. Our people became victims of the devastating consequences of nuclear weapons testing. This tragedy must never be repeated. For the sake of future generations, we must strengthen peace, expand international cooperation, and take steps toward nuclear disarmament and the rejection of nuclear testing. Peace and security are the highest values uniting all of humanity,” the President wrote on his page on X.
Earlier, in August, the project for the construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant was officially launched.
