Tengrinews.kz – The organizers of the notorious Kyzdar.net website have been detained. During a search of the office, law enforcement officers found large sums of money and digital assets, citing the Almaty prosecutor’s office.
What happened
The heads of the criminal enterprise have been charged under Part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code, "Organization or maintenance of brothels for prostitution, provision of other sexual services, and pimping committed via the internet."
"According to the investigation, the website has been used since 2011 to post advertisements and organize paid intimate services. On June 7, 2026, the alleged organizers of the resource were detained; their actions have been classified under Part 2 of Article 309, and they have been placed in custody by court order."
According to the agency, during the searches, large sums of cash, digital assets, computer equipment, and other physical evidence were seized from the organizers.
"Illegal income has been preliminarily estimated at over 2 billion tenge. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The progress of the case is under the special supervision of the Almaty City Prosecutor's Office," the prosecutor's office stated.
Why the website administrators could not be convicted last time
The current detention marks the second attempt to bring the resource's management to justice.
In the spring of 2023, police reported the detention of 11 top managers of Kyzdar.net. At that time, investigators opened a criminal case under Article 309 of the Criminal Code — "Organization or maintenance of brothels for prostitution and procurement."
However, they were unable to bring the case to court. The case was closed in 2024. The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained to Tengrinews.kz that this was due to loopholes in the legislation.
"The pre-trial investigation under Article 309 of the Criminal Code regarding the organization of brothels for prostitution was closed due to gaps in legislation. The investigative authorities did not find definitions for terms such as 'online pimping' and 'advertising prostitution' in the article, which complicated the case," the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
What changed in the law and why the site had continued operating
After that, amendments were adopted to the Criminal Code in September 2024. The law now makes it possible to hold the following people accountable:
- organizers of brothels;
- pimps;
- administrators of themed chats and websites that advertise intimate services.
The new provisions introduce much tougher punishment for online pimping. Part 2 of Article 309 provides for imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years with confiscation of property.
How the resource bypassed blocks
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed us that they regularly block web resources with illegal content, and a special working group had even been established specifically to combat Kyzdar.net.
Nevertheless, the site remained accessible for a long time. The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that the owners rent hosting from American internet service providers. Each time the Kazakh segment of the internet blocks a current address, the administrators instantly change the domain name from "Kyzdar.net" to "Kyzdar2.net" or "Kyzdar4.net."
